Minium

Privacy policy

Effective 10 October 2026

Minium is an ebook reader for iPhone and iPad. It does not collect, share or sell your data, and it has no account.

What stays on your device

Your books, reading positions, bookmarks, quotes and collections are stored on your device, in the app’s shared storage (an App Group container, which the Minium widgets also read), and in your device backups if you use them. Minium has no server, so none of it is sent to the developer or to anyone else. Settings such as typeface and theme are kept in the app’s preferences on the device.

What Minium does not do

The app’s privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data types.

Importing books

When you add a file, from Files, with “Open in Minium” or from the share sheet, Minium reads it on your device and copies it into the app’s storage. Nothing is uploaded. A book’s contents go nowhere unless you share the file yourself.

Reading

Books are shown in a web view. For most books Minium blocks the book from loading anything over the network. Fixed-layout and vertical-text books are shown by a different path that does not have that block, so such a book could load web resources it links to. A link inside a book opens in your system browser or mail app, and that app’s own policy applies from then on.

Widgets

Minium’s widgets show your current book, your shelf or a saved quote. They read the same on-device storage and do not use the network.

Sharing

If you share or copy a quote, or share a book file, with the share sheet, it goes to the app you pick. Minium never shares anything on its own.

System data the app uses

Minium keeps its settings in the system’s preferences, and reads file dates and available disk space on your device to manage your library. None of this leaves the device.

Sample books

The books that come with Minium are public-domain texts from Project Gutenberg, bundled in the app. Minium does not download them.

Removing your data

Delete a book in the app to remove it. “Forget removed books” in Settings → Privacy clears the reading positions Minium keeps for deleted books. Quotes you saved stay in Quotes after their book is deleted; delete them there. Deleting the app removes everything it stores.

Children

Minium collects no data from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
